My husband and I were all set to be empty nesters in just a few years when, as fate would have it, our lives took a turn down a road we had not even dreamed of. We were planning where we would go when he retired when along came our sweet Maggie Mae by way of the foster care system. We waded through the weeds with her and later our Walter Leroy when (finally) in the beginning of 2024 we adopted them. Signing on for another 18 years of raising kids! We honestly couldn't believe it ourselves but having been raised by my grandparents myself, I couldn't imagine letting them go to strangers and not stepping up for them. Although it's not what we had originally had planned, it certainly is worth it.
My husband and I met online before dating apps. We each came with kids and didn't think that was enough so we added one more. Then along came a long lost daughter. We are just Brady Bunching it up over here!
We also became grandparents in 2019. Can't believe I'm even old enough to think about being a grandma.
I'm still living my teenage dreams going to Backstreet Boys concerts and Disney World, but now those things are followed by ibuprofen and long foot soaks. I love to road trip and go on little adventures. You can follow along on my YouTube and TikTok!
Being a stay at home mom for the second time in my life means I need all the adult interaction I can get, having conversations with a three year old about her ponies and trying to convince a 13 month old he does not need to put everything he touches in his mouth is great, but a girl needs variety!
