Happy 4th of July!!
Glad to say we all walked away with our fingers and toes again this year. Hope you did the same!
We had an extremely low key day. My husband bought some fireworks from the store, nothing fancy, just something to entertain the kids. We bought dinner the night before from a local restaurant so we wouldn't have to leave the day of for anything but an emergency (which there wasn't one).
Come dusk I was bathing the babies and getting them in their jammies while he set up the fireworks out front. It was a little show but Maggie enjoyed it none the less. She is still talking about it as I'm writing this on the sixth. She loves the fireworks!
It's been three years since we went anywhere for the fireworks. In our town they usually do them at the high school but we decided when Maggie was a baby that dragging anyone not potty trained to something like that would probably be a little bit of a nightmare. Not to mention she put us on a pretty good schedule and Walter followed in her footsteps. Both of them are ready to be in bed at about dark and I'm not fighting a baby to see mediocre fireworks in 100 degree weather.
Now if we were at Disney that would be a different story, suck it up kid! You're staying until Tinkerbell flies across that sky! Those are the only acceptable fireworks to suffer through crowds, heat, and a tired baby for.
Maybe next year we will make it to the fireworks show. Maybe not.
But this was our Fourth of July for 2024 and I wouldn't have had it any other way.
