Happy Halloween friends!
I've seen a lot of people talk about this on TikTok, but I thought I'd add our experience also.
Trunk or Treats and Covid, ruined Halloween. Prior to 2020 there were so many neighborhoods in my town that went big for Halloween. We could go for hours trick or treating because there were so many people handing out candy. But post 2020, not only do people not decorate, they also don't hand out candy. We drove around for 15 minutes on Halloween night this year searching for a neighborhood that was handing out anything. We went to our usual spots and there was nothing. Not a single child on the streets.
I don't know about you, but it takes us quite a bit of effort to get it together enough to get the kids in their costumes and in the car to get somewhere to walk around for 15 minutes before they say I'm tired I want to go home.
When we did finally find a street/neighborhood that was handing out candy, we walked up one side and down the other. Maggie following and even though she was obviously cold and tired she kept saying OK, we're going to the next house now. She got a decent amount of candy for a three year old. I couldn't believe she was so into it! She just walked around in her little bulldozer costume and even went up to a couple doors on her own.
We dressed Wally as a construction worker but he wasn't feeling it, I didn't figure he would be, but he got some candy too.
Next year is going to be so much fun!
